Thank you to Liz & Jim Birmingham

Thank you to Liz Jim Birmingham for your continued generosity and support of our school. Liz and Jim donated $20,000 through a donor advised fund with The Charitable Foundations of the Islands (CFI) to assist the school in installing a bug misting system and provide our teachers with travel incentives to compensate them for their time spent in traffic getting on and off of Sanibel Island daily. Both of these things had an immediate impact on our school and how in functions day to day.

The misting system, installed by Mosquito Mist, helps reduce the number of biting insects on our playground allowing teachers and students to spend more time outside learning and enjoying our island’s natural resources.

The incentives for our teachers and staff allow us to ensure we are supporting them financially as they take on the burden of Sanibel traffic each day crossing the causeway. This helps to ensure teacher retention, improve school morale, and reduce the stress of our staff.

We are grateful to the Birminghams for their ongoing and generous support of our school both before and after Hurricane Ian.
